EXCITING NEWS! 5/21/25 We are pleased to announce that Longshadows Ranch has received a $20,000 grant from the Carolyn Watson…
The Longshadows Ranch Longhouse is a 40×60, multi-use community and teaching center designed to serve as a year-round hub for education, food systems, and connection. Rooted in traditional longhouse design and built with modern infrastructure, it creates a space where culture and practical skills come together. The facility will include a commercial kitchen, flexible learning space, and renewable energy systems to support both programming and sustainability. It is designed to host workshops, community gatherings, retreats, and small-scale food production. More than a building, it is a place where people can learn, create, and build lasting relationships.
This project provides a much-needed year-round space for learning, gathering, and collaboration in our rural community. It supports hands-on education, strengthens local food systems, and creates opportunities for small-scale entrepreneurship through shared resources. By bringing people together around practical skills and shared experiences, it builds connection, resilience, and long-term community vitality.
A family-owned, teaching homestead farm and ranch, offering life lessons, farm experiences, and volunteer opportunities to preserve and pass on traditional Cherokee life ways. We give children and families a chance to experience life lived in a different way.
Our Mission:
Longshadows Ranch exists to keep Cherokee lifeways alive—teaching through the land, the seasons, and the stories. We connect generations through learning, stewardship, and community, ensuring that Cherokee culture, language, and traditional knowledge continue to thrive for those yet to come.
